YouTube script analyzer
A YouTube script analyzer reads a finished script for retention: where viewers are likely to leave, which line each drop starts on, and what to cut, move or rewrite before you film. Retti's Script Review does that for a pasted script or a video link. A script has no audience yet, so these are risks, not measured drops; after you publish, Video Review reads the video against its real retention graph.

Why analyze the script, not just the video
Most retention problems are decided on the page. The tangent that loses people at 4:00, the payoff that arrives ninety seconds late and the section that repeats what the viewer already understood all exist in the script first. Fixing them there costs a rewrite. Fixing them in the edit costs a reshoot or a cut, and fixing them after publishing costs the video. Our guide to analysing a script before you film it covers the method.
What Script Review gives you
- Problem zones, with the line. Each drop-off risk shows where it starts and ends and quotes the line it begins on, so there is no hunting for what a note refers to.
- A full hook read. The opening gets its own analysis with alternative angles, however strong the current hook is.
- A re-edit plan. Cut, compress, move, add and rewrite instructions against the same zones, ranked by what each one recovers.
- A beat-by-beat map. The whole script resolved into narrative beats with a verdict on each, end to end.
- What changed since last time. Re-analyse a script it has seen before and it reports which problems you fixed, which are still flagged, and which the rewrite introduced.
- Stakes and repetition checks. Where the stakes fade, and where a point is restated without adding anything. It also flags phrasing that reads as machine-written.
How to use it
- Paste the script, or a link to a published video whose script you want to examine.
- Read the problem zones in order. Start with the hook and the first third, because they play to the biggest audience.
- Apply the re-edit plan, then run it again to see what moved.
- Film, edit, and run Edit Review on the cut before you upload.
If you have not written the script yet

Analyse your scriptFrequently asked questions
What is a YouTube script analyzer?
A tool that reads a script for retention before you film. It marks where viewers are likely to drop, quotes the line each risk starts on, and recommends cuts and rewrites. Retti's Script Review is one.
Can I analyze a script before filming?
Yes, and it is the cheapest time to fix problems. Paste the script and Script Review marks the zones that will lose people, so you rewrite on the page instead of reshooting.
What does a script analyzer check?
The hook, the pacing of each beat, where the payoff lands, whether the stakes persist, repeated points, and phrasing that reads as machine-written.
Does it write the script too?
Script Review analyses a script. Script Writer is the tool that writes one, from topic to research, hooks, outline and full script, and it includes Script Review.
What video lengths does it support?
Retti is built for long-form videos, 8 minutes and up.
